ABSTRACT A water stabilised polymeric composition incorporating a hydrated alumina filler as one component, an effective amount of an antimony V compound as another component, and in which one or each of the components is/are coated with a reagent which can chemically react with, or physically bond to, the surface of the other component. The compositions have a reduced tendency to absorb water and specific compositions find application as electrical insulation and in the production of dimensionally recoverable articles. Coating reagents include acids, reactive functional acid derivatives and complexing or chelating agents.
