The instant invention is a polymeric composition, process of producing the same, and articles made therefrom. The polymeric composition according to instant invention comprises: (1) a polyolefin, wherein said polyolefin is the polymerization reaction product of at least one or more .alpha.-olefins in the presence of a solvent via a solution polymerization reaction; and (2) a phenolic antioxidant. The polymeric composition contains less than 0.02 parts of copper per one million parts of the composition, and the polymeric composition has a whiteness index according to ASTM-D 6290 of equal or greater than [(-0.73 X)+(W i)] where X is the number of days of accelerated aging, and Wi is the initial whiteness index at 0 days of accelerated aging. The process for producing the polymeric composition according to instant invention includes the following steps: (1) selecting a copper free polymerization system; (2) polymerizing at least one or more .alpha.-olefins in the presence of a solvent via a solution polymerization reaction in the copper free polymerization system; (3) thereby producing a polyolefin polymer; (4) melt blending a phenolic antioxidant into the polyolefin polymer; and (5) thereby producing the polymeric composition, wherein the polymeric composition contains less than 0.02 parts of copper per one million parts of the composition, and the polymeric composition has a whiteness index according to ASTM-D 6290 of equal or greater than [(-0.73 X)+(W i)] where X is the number of days of accelerated aging, and Wi is the initial whiteness index at 0 days of accelerated aging. The articles according to instant invention comprise the above-described polymeric composition.
L'invention concerne une composition polymère, un procédé pour la produire et des articles faits avec celle-ci. La composition polymère selon la présente invention comporte : (1) une polyoléfine, la polyoléfine étant le produit de réaction de polymérisation d'au moins une a-oléfine en présence d'un solvant par une réaction de polymérisation en solution ; et (2) un antioxydant phénolique. La composition polymère a une teneur en cuivre inférieure à 0,02 partie pour un million de parties de la composition, et la composition polymère présente un indice de blancheur selon ASTM-D6290 supérieur ou égal à [(-0,73 X) + (Wi)], X étant le nombre de jours de vieillissement accéléré et Wi étant l'indice de blancheur initial à 0 jour de vieillissement accéléré. Le procédé de fabrication de la composition polymère selon la présente invention consiste : (1) à sélectionner un système de polymérisation exempt de cuivre ; (2) à polymériser au moins une a-oléfine en présence d'un solvant par une réaction de polymérisation en solution dans le système de polymérisation exempt de cuivre ; (3) à produire ainsi un polymère de polyoléfine ; (4) à mélanger en fusion un antioxydant phénolique dans le polymère de polyoléfine ; et (5) à produire ainsi la composition polymère, la composition polymère ayant une teneur en cuivre inférieure à 0,02 partie de cuivre pour un million de parties de la composition, et la composition polymère ayant un indice de blancheur selon ASTM-D6290 supérieur ou égal à [(-0,73 X) + (Wi)], X étant le nombre de jours de vieillissement accéléré et Wi étant l'indice de blancheur initial à 0 jour de vieillissement accéléré. Les articles selon la présente invention comportent la composition polymère décrite ci-dessus.
