The composition comprises a water soluble branched polymeric composition effective for the purpose of precipitating contaminants from an aqueous solution . The method comprises adding an amount of the composition, effective for the purpose, to the aqueous solution so as to complex, precipitate and remove contaminants from the aqueous solution.
