An annular die designed to produce polymer foam using only one or more ambient gasses as a blowing agent includes an exiting channel with an exit having a cross-sectional area between about two and about ten times that of a smallest point within the exit channel. The section of the die from the smallest point to the exit is thermally isolated from the rest of the die, and the temperature thereof is independently controlled. In addition, the interior surface of the exit channel is coated with a friction-reducing coating.

L'invention porte sur une matrice annulaire conçue pour produire une mousse polymère à l'aide d'un ou plusieurs gaz ambiant(s), dont un agent gonflant, comprenant un passage de sortie présentant une sortie dont la superficie de la section transversale est comprise entre environ 2 et environ 10 fois celle du point le plus petit se trouvant dans le passage. La section de la matrice du point le plus petit à la sortie est isolée thermiquement du reste de la matrice et la température à l'intérieur est réglée de manière indépendante. De plus, la surface intérieure du passage de sortie est enrobée d'un revêtement de réduction du frottement.
