POLYMERIC ISOCYANATES AND PROCESS FOR MAKING SAME ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for preparing an isocyanate-functional polymer which comprises reacting a sterically hindered amide polymer with a hypochlorite and recovering the iso- cyanate-functional polymer from the reaction mixture. The isocyanate-functional polymer may be used in coating compositions and can be cross-linked with active hydrogen containing moieties, e.g., polyols or amines.
