ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention relates to polymeric polydentate complexons having more than six donor sites in a structural unit of general formula I or II Image (I) and Image (II) where ? is a linear or three-dimensional polymeric skeleton, X is -O- or-N-, in which R represents a hydrogen, an alkyl of 1 to 6 C atoms, a phenyl or phenyl substituted with 1-2 alkyls or alkoxyls containing from 1-6 C atoms, Y is - 0-, -S- or-N-, Image and n is from 1 to 3. The invention also relates to a method for the preparation of polymeric complexon of general formula I or II. These complexon polymers according to the invention are suitable for the recovery of heavy metals from electro- plating baths, removing of heavy metals from waste waters, concentrating and separation of heavy metals in hydro- metallurgy and separation of metals in analytical chemistry.
