POLYMERIC QUATERNARY AMMONIUM COMPOUNDS, THEIR PREPARATION AND USE Abstract of the Disclosure Novel capped polymeric quaternary ammonium compositions formed by reacting ionene type polymers with tertiary amines and having the structure Image wherein R" is Image OR Image OR Image in which R is methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, hydroxethyl or hydroxypropyl; R and R' are identical when R is ethyl, propyl, butyl, hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl and when R is methyl R' is methyl or an alkyl group containing 6 to 18 carbon atoms having 0 to 2 carbon to carbon double bonds or cyclohexyl; R and R' may form a pyridyl or a piperidyl group; m is an integer varying from 2 to 12 and n is an odd number from 1 to 201, are useful as microbicides, corrosion inhibitors, debonding agents, flocculants, softeners, plant growth regulators, and demulsifiers.
