A method for producing polymer-based floor or wall coverings, wherein polymers modified by high-polarity comonomer groups are mixed with mineral fillers, and sheets, strips or tiles are produced according to conventional methods for PVC in order to produce abrasion-resistant materials which are particularly suitable for producing floor or wall coverings. Abrasion-resistant products obtained using this method are also described.
