ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A polymer of silybin having a degree of polymerization n of 2 to 8 is produced by polymerizing silybin in an organic solvent medium in the presence of an aqueous mineral acid; the organic solvent being effective in the presence of the acid to dissolve the silybin to the extent that monomeric product does not precipitate during the course of the reaction; the silybin polymers have an etiological effect in the treatement of liver diseases.
