ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A Group IIa metal carbonate filled polyolefin composition is provided with a compatiblizing agent to improve impact strength and tensile strength while maintaining stiffness. The compatiblizing agent comprises one or more polyolefins grafted with carboxylic acids or anhydrides. The filler may be present in amounts up to about 80 wt.% based on the total weight of the composition. The graft copolymer compatiblizer should be present in amounts ranging from about 1 wt.% to about 50 wt.% based on the weight of the carbonate filler.
