ABSTRACT Polyolefin resin foam containing a finely-powdered compound having a melting point higher than that of the resin, which is characterized by having an average cell size of 0.1 mm or more and a structure rich in uniform closed cells. The foam is prepared by a process comprising the addition of a blowing agent and a finely-powdered compound having a melting point higher than that of the resin by kneading the resin and the expansion of the resultant mixture, characterized by heating, kneading and expanding a polyolefin resin containing 0.05-10 percent by weight of at least one of certain amino acids or a polyhydric alcohols. 28,188-F
