Polyolefins made in accordance with the present invention are produced by polymerizing an unsaturated olefin or combination of unsaturated olefins to produce an unsaturated polyolefin, isomerizing the unsaturated polyolefin in the presence of an acid catalyst under conditions to produce a substantially unsaturated-isomerized polyolefin, and hydrogenating the unsaturated- isomerized polyolefin to produce a saturated isomerized polyolefin. A lube oil comprising the inventive saturated isomerized polyolefin is also disclosed.

L~invention concerne des polyoléfines obtenues en polymérisant une oléfine insaturée ou un mélange d~oléfines insaturées afin de former une polyoléfine insaturée, en isomérisant la polyoléfine insaturée en présence d~un catalyseur acide dans des conditions permettant d~obtenir une polyoléfine sensiblement isomérisée et insaturée, et en hydrogénant la polyoléfine isomérisée et insaturée afin d~obtenir une polyoléfine isomérisée et saturée. L~invention concerne également une huile de graissage comprenant la polyoléfine isomérisée saturée selon l~invention.
