Disclosed is a substantially pure polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence containing (a) an amino acid residue selected from the group consisting of Asp, Glu and Gla wherein Gla represents a y-carboxyglutamic acid residue or (b) a peptide or polypeptide residue consisting of at least two amino acid residues selected from Asp, Glu and Gla, wherein the above-mentioned at least two amino acid residue are all the same or combinations of the Asp, Glu and Gla. The polypeptide is capable of interacting with thrombin to form a binding therebetween, thereby exhibiting an activity to inhibit the blood coagulation and platelet aggregation by thrombin and/or an activity to promote the thrombin-catalyzed activation of protein C. This novel polypeptide has a low molecular weight so that it is suitable for oral or nasal administration.

Polypeptide pratiquement pur, avec une séquence spécifique d'acides aminés renfermant (a) un acide aminé résiduel, choisi parmi Asp, Glu et Gla, Gla représentant un acide gamma-carboxyglutamique résiduel, ou (b) un peptide ou polypeptide résiduel, constitué d'au moins deux acides aminés résiduels, choisis parmi Asp, Glu et Gla, les deux acides aminés résiduels mentionnés ci-dessus étant les mêmes ou des combinaisons d'Asp, Glu et Gla. Il peut y avoir interaction entre le polypeptide et la thrombine avec formation d'une liaison entre les deux et activité d'inhibition de la coagulation sanguine et de l'agrégation plaquettaire par la thrombine et (ou) activation de la protéine C catalysée par la thrombine. Ce nouveau polypeptide a une faible masse moléculaire, ce qui permet de l'administrer par voie orale ou nasale.
