NOVEL POLYSACCHARIDES AND PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION THEREOF ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The specification relates to novel polysaccharides having antitumor and other useful pharmacological activities, and to a process for preparing such polysaccharides. The polysaccharides are characterized by .alpha.-bonding of the saccharide component and can be produced from the extracts obtained by the extraction of Basidiomycetes fungi belonging to the genus Coriolus, or cultures thereof, with an aqueous solvent.
