12 Abstract POLYSACCHARIDES WITH IMMUNOMODULATING PROPERTIES FROM ASTRAGALUS MEMBRANACEUS AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING THEM New glucanes (Astraglucanes) and their mixture with other polysaccharides extracted from the roots and rhizomes of Astragalus membranaceus and other species, endowed with immunomodulating properties, are disclo- sed. These new products find their application as an aid in radiation antineoplastic therapy, in chemothe- rapy and in the treatment and prevention of bacterial and viral infections. Said products are active by oral route and after injection and are suitable for incorpo- ration into the most common pharmaceutical formula- tions.
