A process for making a polysiloxane block copolymer which is built up from units of the formula [A] [B], in which A is a polymeric block built up from radically polymerisable monomer, and B is a polysiloxane block, the process comprising the steps of polymerising a radically polymerisable monomer in the presence of an atom transfer radical initiator to form a polymer which is end- functionalised with a leaving group capable of nucleophilic substitution by nucleophilic end-groups on a polysiloxane, and reacting the polymer with a polysiloxane having nucleophilic end-groups so that a polysiloxane block copolymer is formed via a nucleophilic displacement reaction between the end- groups on the polysiloxane and leaving groups on the polymer respectively. Also provided is a cosmetic and personal care composition, such as a hair styling composition, comprising the polysiloxane block copolymer as described above.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un copolymère bloc de polysiloxane qui est formé à partir d'unités de la formule [A] [B]. Dans cette dernière, A représente un bloc polymère formé à partir d'un monomère radicalement polyérisable, et B représente un bloc de polysiloxane. Ce procédé comprend les étapes consistant à polymériser un monomère radicalement polymérisable en présence d'un initiateur radical de transfert d'atome pour former un polymère qui est fonctionnalisé en extrémité avec un groupe labile pouvant assurer une substitution nucléophile par des groupes d'extrémité nucléophiles sur un polysiloxane. Ce procédé consiste ensuite à faire réagir le polymère avec un polysiloxane comportant des groupes d'extrémité nucléophiles de telle sorte qu'un copolymère bloc de polysiloxane est formé par une réaction de déplacement nucléophique entre les groupes d'extrémité sur le polysiloxane et les groupes labiles sur le polymère respectivement. En outre, l'invention concerne une composition cosmétique et de soins personnels, telle qu'une composition de soins pour les cheveux comprenant le bloc copolymère de polysiloxane décrit plus haut.
