POLYURETHANE CARPET BACKING Abstract of the Disclosure The invention comprehends a carpet backing of cured blown polyurethane comprising a surface film of substantially uniform thickness and a layer beneath the film having a cellular structure. The film is formed by application of a detackifying substance applied to the backing prior to its curing, and the layer having the cellular structure is crushed prior to its curing and is retained in its crushed condition by the tack of the walls of the internal cells of the layer.
