Abstract This invention relates to a sealing solution for application to surfaces to protect such surfaces from defacement and deterioration. The solution comprises a resin formed from the addition of a polyvinyl alcohol resin having a molecular weight of from 8000 to 115000 and a degree of hydrolysis of 84- 98%, to an acrylic resin having substantially pure methylmethacrylate base and a carboxylation degree of 1.5 to 10%, the proportion of pva to acrylic being such that the number of hydroxyl groups available from the pva is 5-50% of the number of carboxyl groups present.
