ABSTRACT: Decorative pompoms are manufactured by drawing rolls of tubular plastic film over individual separators to open the tubes, and severing the tubes longitudinally into strips. The strips are condensed to a rod that is heat sealed in a compressed state at intervals along the rod. The resultant intermediate product may be severed between the sites of heat sealing to form individual, centrally sealed segments. The segments, when expanded at the ends, form pompoms. A fastener such as a string may be incorporated into the rod.
