If the barrier elements, or panels, are dimensioned into different sizes, a plurality of panels may be used for the marginal walls a swimming pool or for a skating rink. With a skating rink, a circumferential protective shield is also placed over it so as to protect, a water impervious inner liner from damage by skate or puck.
