A device for safely storing pool cues between plays to help prevent accidental dam- age to the cues and which is small enough to be carried easily and readily and quickly attaches to and detaches from any convenient edged surface such as a tabletop is com- prised of a generalized "C" clamp having a spring loaded clamping rod. The rod is pulled out of the clamp body by means of a rod handle against the action of a compression spring, compressing the spring and creating a gap between the end of the rod and one end of the clamp body. The clamp body is placed over an edged object such as a tabletop and the rod released. As the compression spring relaxes, the rod is forced against the underside of the tabletop, locking the clamp to the tabletop surface. A "V" block incorporated on the body of the clamp serves as a convenient resting place for the pool cue preventing accidental "knock overs". Where the edge of the tabletop is beveled significantly, an alternate em- bodiment comprises a stationery jaw upon which is spring mounted a movable jaw. The movable jaw is pried away from the stationery jaw against the spring action and the assem- bly placed over the beveled surface. The movable jaw is released and spring action clamps the assembly to the beveled surface. An integral "V" block located on the stationery jaw serves as a resting place for the cue.
