ABSTRACT A pool lifter includes a base frame which is mountable at or adjacent the side of a swimming pool or spa. A substantially vertical column is provided on the base which is rotatable about its vertical axis, and the column is formed or provided with an elongate vertical slot. A movable carriage is provided within the column and means are provided to move the carriage vertically within that column. The arm extends substantially laterally from the carriage and out through the elongate vertical slot in the column. Seat means are provided at or adjacent the distal end of the arm. The arrangement is such that the carriage moves within the column and the seat means is also moved relative to, such as to be raised above, or lowered into, the water in the pool or spa.
