Compositions and methods for treating, preventing and diagnosing Helicobacter infection are disclosed. The methods use proteins and/or nucleic acids derived from Helicobacter cerdo, a new pathogen isolated from swine. In addition, porcine models for studying bacterial gastritis and gastric and duodenal ulcer disease caused by Helicobacter pathogens, such as H. pylori and H. cerdo are described, as well as methods of identifying vaccines and compounds for treating and/or preventing Helicobacter infection using the animal models. Also described are methods of preventing Helicobacter infection in swine, such as infection caused by H. cerdo, using immunogenic proteins and nucleic acids derived from Helicobacter pathogens, such as H. pylori.

L'invention concerne des compositions et des procédés permettant de traiter, de prévenir et de diagnostiquer des infections à helicobacter. Lesdits procédés font appel à des protéines et/ou à des acides nucléiques dérivés de l'helicobacter du porc, nouveau pathogène isolé du porc. L'invention concerne en outre des modèles porcins utilisés pour étudier la gastrite bactérienne et l'ulcère gastrique et duodénal induit par des pathogènes helicobacter, comme l'helicobacter pilori et helicobacter du porc, ainsi que des procédés permettant d'identifier des vaccins et des composés pour traiter et/ou prévenir l'infection à helicobacter à l'aide des modèles humains. L'invention concerne également des procédés permettant de prévenir l'infection à helicobacter chez le porc, comme l'infection induite par helicobacter du porc, au moyen de protéines immunogènes et d'acides nucléiques dérivés de pathogènes d'helicobacter, comme helicobacter pilori.
