- 13 - "POROUS JACKET-TYPE WEEPING TILE" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Conventional weeping tile consists of baked clay drainage tile, corrugated and perforated flexible plastic pipe wrapped in filter cloth, PVC perforated pipe covered in filter cloth, or PVC perforated pipe with a layer of clean gravel which is then wrapped in filter cloth. These all suffer from several disadvantages such as difficulty in laying the pipe accurately, difficulty in assuring efficient operation once covered, and very labour intensive. Prefabricated weeping tile of the present invention consists of PVC perforated standard drainage pipe covered with a pre-formed split shell formed from a beaded material with a binder for bonding purposes which is permeable to water and which in turn is covered with a filter blanket fabric sleeve. The lengths of pipe are easily connected together due to the bell and socket type fittings on each end of the pipe sections and they also resist displacement when backfilling.
