The invention is directed to a porous sound-absorbing concrete composition comprising aggregates, binder and water. These ingredients are easily available and conventionally used in the preparation of concrete. This sound-absorbing concrete is characterized by interconnected pores and cavities having a flow resistivity that is situated between 5 000 and 100 000 Rayls/meter (mks). Also, the sound-absorbing concrete can be comprised of one or more identical or different concrete layer(s), and can be made to conform to any size, thickness, shape, colour and texture and can therefore be adapted for many applications.
