A communications switch comprising, a plurality of numerically identified input traffic ports, a plurality of numerically identified output traffic ports, at least one significant label extraction means and at least one numerical processor, the communications switch being arranged whereby each message entering the communication switch by a numerically identified input traffic port contains a header, which header contains a label stack, which label stack includes at least one valid label, of which one valid label is a significant label and wherein the numerical value of the significant label contained within the header of a particular message which entered the communications switch via a particular numerically identified input traffic port is extracted by one of the least one significant label extraction means and is supplied to one of the at least one numerical processors which numerical processor uses the significant label of the particular message and the numerical value of the particular numerically identified input traffic port to form a numerical result which directly equates to the number of the numerically identified output traffic port by which said particular messages leaves the communications switch and wherein the numerical result is equal to the modulo addition of the numerical value of the significant label and the numerical value of said particular numerically identified input traffic port.

Ce commutateur de communications est con×u de sorte que chaque message p~n~trant dans ledit commutateur de communications par un point d'acc­s pour trafic entrant num~riquement identifi~ contient un entÚte contenant une pile d'~tiquettes, ladite pile d'~tiquettes incluant au moins une ~tiquette valide, l'une des ~tiquettes valides ~tant une ~tiquette significative et la valeur num~rique de l'~tiquette significative contenue dans l'entÚte d'un message particulier entr~ dans le commutateur de communications par l'interm~diaire d'un point d'acc­s particulier pour trafic entrant num~riquement identifi~ ~tant extraite par ledit ou l'un desdits organes d'extraction d'~tiquettes significatives et ~tant transmise audit processeur num~rique ou ~ l'un desdits processeurs num~riques qui utilisent cette ~tiquette significative du message particulier et la valeur num~rique du point d'acc­s particulier pour trafic entrant num~riquement identifi~ pour former un r~sultat num~rique qui ~quivaut directement au num~ro du point d'acc­s pour trafic sortant num~riquement identifi~ par lequel ledit message particulier quitte le commutateur de communications, ledit r~sultat num~rique ~tant ~gal ~ l'addition modulo de la valeur num~rique de l'~tiquette significative et de la valeur num~rique dudit point d'acc­s particulier pour trafic entrant, num~riquement identifi~.
