PORTABLE ELECTRICAL POWER TOOLS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A portable electric power device comprises a replacement alternator for a motor vehicle, a control unit for mounting in the motor vehicle and a device for con- trolling the speed of the engine of the motor vehicle by operating upon the carburetor throttle control valve. The device can be used for powering an electric welding appa- ratus or other power tools. A switch device is provided adjacent the welding apparatus or adjacent the tool and communicating with the control unit for controlling ope- ration of the speed control of the engine so that when the power is not required, the speed of the engine can be slow- ed to idle and then instantaneously increased to the ad- justable increased power speed for powering the tool.
