-23- " PORTABLE MACHINING ASSEMBLY" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A portable machining assembly for machining parts in situ, in order to avoid disassembly which is often extreme- ly difficult and time consuming. A hydraulic motor drives a tool bar via a gear box with the tool bar being supported for rotation within bearings and being slidable relative to the drive gear by means of a hydraulic piston and cylinder assem- bly extending from the gear box casing. One or more universal attachment block assemblies are secured to the device and can be detachably secured to the structure upon which work is be- ing done, thus enabling the device to be aligned, centered etc. prior to machining by a tool detachably secured in the tool bar. Alternatively the device can readily be adapted for use as a surfacing tool or the like.
