ABSTRACT A portable cement mixer comprises a wheelbarrow type frame with spaced-apart elongated handles extending in the lengthwise direction of the frame. Wheel means are secured adjacent the frontal end of said handles and ground engaging leg means are located rearwardly of said wheel means to support the handles above the ground such that the handles extend primarily horizontally rearwardly when the mixer is resting on a horizontal surface for ready grasping of the handles by a user such that the entire mixer can be moved in the manner of a common wheelbarrow. A mixing drum is mounted to said frame for rotation about an axis fixed relative to said frame, said axis extending in the lengthwise direction of the frame and also being inclined forwardly and upwardly when said wheel means and leg means are supported from a horizontal surface. The said drum has a forwardly facing open mouth. Drive means are provided on said frame for rotating said drum about said axis. The entire cement mixer has a centre of gravity located rearwardly of the rotation axis of said wheel means but sufficiently close thereto as to facilitate the transport of the mixer when loaded with cement by ensuring that said wheel means carries the major share of the total loading and/or to facilitate the dumping of the contents of the mixing drum via said open mouth forwardly of the wheel means by grasping and lifting the rearward portions of the handles upwardly to tilt the entire mixer about the rotation axis of the wheel means.
