- 22 - PORTABLE MOBILE SEAT ASSEMBLY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Seats for invalids or elderly persons are difficult to detachably secure to a car seat or to a chair and in particular it is often difficult for the person to get into or out of a car with the seat in place or to position themselves at a correct distance from a table. The present device includes a base carrying a swivelling upper seat portion which in turn can be moved inwardly and outwardly relative to the base either while swivelling from one position to another or in two separ- ate movements if more convenient. A stop may be provided to position the seat in the forward position relative to the base at which time a latch may be engaged detachably securing the seat relatively to the base. The seat may be restricted to swivel approximately 90° when used in a car or may move 360° when used upon a chair. By provid- ing a cloth underside to the base, frictional engagement of the seat assembly with a car seat is facilitated par- ticularly if the car seat is upholstered with a cloth type material also. In the event the car seat is not covered with a cloth type material the weight of the per- - 23 - son upon the device plus the wedging of the extension of the base between the car seat and the back of the car seat is sufficient to keep the base in a stationary posi- tion at all times.
