A modular, dis-assemblable light-weight, portable tubular bridge structure is used for supporting an elongated infra-red (I.R.) heater. The modular structure enables its use with I.R. system of different length and varying configurations. The bridge structure has A-frame style support stands with adjustable legs of square section; and carries a square section tubular bridge member or members from which the I.R. heater is suspended. The A-frame legs impart a degree of flexibility such that a moderate degree of flexing may take place, to accomodate factors such as uneveness of the standing, rough usage and environmental changes. The system components are not rigidly joined, for mutual accomodation, to minimize stress generation. One A-frame embodiment has a Tee-bar extending axially, to which the bridge tube is coupled and pinned, by a "sloppy" fit, to ease assembly and stresses. Some stand embodiments use one or more apex gusset plates, with one or more oversized ports, enabling mis-alignment of adjoining sections of the bridge. Muff-sleeve couplings can be used to couple pairs of bridge rods together, and for connection to the gusset plates. Use of a cranked muff-coupling can accomodate charges in direction of the bridge.
