Abstract of the Disclosure When a paging signal transmitted from a base sta- tion and formed of an identification number and a message to be transferred is received by a pager receiver, the identification number is compared with an identification number of the own receiver, which is prestored in a ROM. When the two identification numbers coincide with each other, it is determined that paging has occurred, and an alarm tone for informing paging is produced in a given period of time. At the same time, the message is displayed on a display, and is written in a store. The message display continues until a display end instruction is issued or a predetermined period of time is elapsed. The store includes n series-connected memories M1 to Mn each for storing a message. A received message is always written in the memory Ml- Before write access, the oldest message code in the memory Mn is deleted, and the message code in each memory Mi is transferred to a corresponding memory Mi+1. The messages in the store are read out in the order of the memories M1 to Mn in a paging waiting state in response to an operation of a display switch, and are displayed in turn. This display also continues until the predetermined period of time is passed or until the display end instruction is input.
