A portable pool heater device used with a heating source such as barbecue, outside fireplace or fire pit. The coil assembly is especially engineered and designed to accommodate confined space but also to provide the best ratio BTU / heat transfer to the water. The body of the pool heater comprises a plurality of independent coils where each layer of pipe is perpendicular to the one below and above and where layers going in the same direction are staggered to each other. The portable pool heater is connected to the pool with a bypass system located after the pump and comprising three shut-off valves and two quick connectors to facilitate the installation / removal of the apparatus while not in use.
