A portable putting surface is formed of a plurality of separate panels each having opposite left and right side rails removably secured thereto. The side rails in turn have mating ends which are used to assemble the panels into a continuous surface. A continuous length of artificial grass or turf material (e. g., Astroturf, tm) is used to cover the panels to form a reasonably realistic putting surface. The side rails each include a slope adjusting screw, thus enabling the left and right sides of the surface, and different panels of the surface, to be adjusted independently of one another in infinitesimally small increments as desired. The present putting surface may be used to simulate side hill lies on a sloping green, and/or may be used to duplicate very closely the slope of any particular green, from any approach direction. The surface assembles and disassembles easily in a matter of a minute or so, and may be packed into an extremely small package for shipment or storage.
