Portable radio telephone with an extending antenna. Portable radio telephone with an antenna assembly (12) built into the casing (10) and consisting of an antenna (26) and an antenna cover (16), inside which the antenna runs along the wall. The antenna assembly (12) contains an extending device (30, 40) enabling the antenna (26) to be held automatically as far away as possible from the user's head when the antenna assembly (12) is fitted to the casing (10), so that the antenna is always held at a minimum distance from the user's head during calls made while the antenna might be subjected to movements bringing closer to the user's head.
