A portable device (200) is provided for configuring a machine (100) of the type which handles coins or valuable papers and which has an interface (402) for connecting an external unit (120), thereby allowing the machine to be configured from the external unit. The portable device has a control unit (700); a memory (710); a first interface (210, 740) adapted to be connected to said external unit (120); and a second interface (220, 750) adapted to be connected to the interface (402) of said machine (100). The control unit is adapted, when the portable device is connected to the external unit via the first interface, to emulate said machine and to receive configuration data intended for said machine from the external unit and store it in the memory. The control unit is further adapted, when the portable device is connected to said machine via the second interface, to emulate the external unit and deliver said configuration data stored in the memory to said machine.
Dispositif portatif (200) destiné à configurer une machine (100) du type qui manipule les pièces ou les papiers-valeurs et qui possède une interface (402) destinée à la connexion d'une unité externe (120) et permet ainsi la configuration de la machine à partir de l'unité externe. Le dispositif portatif possède une unité de commande (700); une mémoire (710); une première interface (210, 740) conçue pour être connectée à ladite unité externe (120), et une deuxième interface (220, 750) conçue pour être connectée à l'interface (402) de ladite machine (100). L'unité de commande est conçue, lorsque le dispositif portatif est connecté à l'unité externe via une première interface, pour émuler ladite machine et recevoir les données de configuration destinées à ladite machine à partir de l'unité externe, et les stocker dans la mémoire. L'unité de commande est également conçue, lorsque le dispositif portatif est connecté à ladite machine via la deuxième interface, pour émuler l'unité externe et fournir lesdites données de configuration stockées dans la mémoire à ladite machine.
