Abstract The mobile vacuum collector includes a collector housing 15 pivotally mounted at one of its ends to a supporting framework. The collector housing includes a main collection chamber 21 with an airstream inlet at its upper rear portion and an air outlet at its upper forward portion, a secondary collection chamber 22 positioned forwardly of and extending below the main collection chamber, and filter bag houses 25, 26 positioned forwardly of said secondary collection chamber. A vacuum pump 32 is mounted to the framework and induces a flow of air and particulate material through the main and secondary collection chambers and through the filter bags 124. Dump openings are positioned at the rear portions of the main and secondary collection chambers and dump conduits 126 extend rearwardly from the filter bag housing to the rear of the vehicle. A baffle assembly 60 extends between the air inlet opening and the air outlet opening of the main collection chamber, and a nozzle assembly 24 directs streams of air downwardly into the secondary collection chamber. The solids of the airstream tend to fall to the lower portions of both the main and secondary collection chambers. .
