A portable vibration monitoring device (20) which includes an accelerometer (24) mounted on a machine to measure the vibration of the machine, and a display to display the results. The results are displayed, for example, on four bargraphs (30-33) to indicate good/marginal/unacceptable vibration levels. Additionally, the bargraphs provide an indication of the type of problem resulting in high vibration levels. Examples of such problem types include, but are not limited to, machine imbalance, misalignment, and general fault conditions.

Dispositif (20) portable servant à contrôler des vibrations et comprenant un accéléromètre (24) monté sur une machine afin de mesurer les vibrations de la machine et un affichage permettant de mesurer les résultats. Ces résultats sont affichés, par exemple, sur quatre graphiques à barres (30, 33) afin d'indiquer les niveaux de vibrations corrects, marginaux ou inacceptables. De plus, ces graphiques à barres permettent d'obtenir une indication concernant le type de problème produit par des niveaux de vibrations élevés.
