The present invention is a novel and improved method and apparatus for performing position location in wireless communications system. One embodiment comprises a method for performing position location in a wireless communication system using a set of signals transmitted from a set of satellites including the steps of receiving signal samples, rotating an acquisition code by a first rotation amount yielding a rotated acquisition code, despreading said signal samples using rotated acquisition code yielding despread data, accumulating said despread data over a first duration yielding partially accumulated data, rotating said partially accumulated data by a second rotation amount yielding rotated data and accumulating said rotated data.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil nouveaux, pour la localisation dans un système de télécommunication sans fil. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'invention porte sur un procédé de localisation dans un système de communication sans fil, au moyen d'un ensemble de signaux émis par un ensemble de satellites, qui consiste à recevoir des échantillons de signaux, à faire subir une première rotation à un premier code d'acquisition, de sorte qu'un code d'acquisition ayant subi une rotation soit produit, à désétaler lesdits échantillons de signaux au moyen dudit code d'acquisition traité de sorte que des données désétalées soient produites, à accumuler lesdites données désétalées pendant un certain temps, de sorte que des données partiellement accumulées soient produites, à faire subir une deuxième rotation aux données partiellement accumulées, de manière que des données ayant subi une rotation soient produites et à accumuler lesdites données.
