POSITION-TRANSMITTER FOR A PNEUMATIC-PNEUMATIC OR ELECTRO-PNEUMATIC CONVERTER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A position transmitter is connected to a DC power supply having a positive terminal connected to an input line and a negative terminal connected through a control system having a variable load, to an output line. A voltage divider including a potentiometer having a wiper is connected across the input and output lines. The wiper is mechanically connected to the movable member of a device to be actuated by the controller. A variable voltage is thus applied between the input and output lines. Through an amplifier, the wiper is electrically connected to the negative input of a zero adjust amplifier which has an adjustable positive input. The movable member of the device is moved to its zero position which also moves the wiper to a zero position. At the zero position, the zero adjust amplifier is adjusted to apply a 4 mA current to the output line. This is done by applying the output of the zero adjust amplifier through a series of amplifiers to the base of a transistor, which has an emitter and collector connected across the input and output lines for converting the voltage signal into a current signal. A span adjust amplifier has a negative input connected to the output of the zero adjust amplifier and has an adjustable feedback from its output to its negative input. A movable member of the device is moved to its maximum position, thus also moving the wiper to a maximum position. The span adjust amplifier is then controlled to apply a 20 mA current signal to the output line. As the movable member moves between its minimum and maximum position, a 4-20 mA signal is applied to the output of the position transmitter which corresponds to the position of the movable member.
