A positioner (10) for centering or otherwise situating medical devices such as biopsy needles with respect to a human body includes a clamp (12) for receiving a portion of the human body (e.g. , a breast), a carriage (22) which moves along a carriage path (24) next to the clamp, and a positioning arm (26) pivotally mounted to the carriage and having a mount (30) for a medical device thereon. The carriage (22) may therefore carry the positioning arm (26) along the carriage path (24) to a desired location adjacent to the clamp (12), at which point the positioning arm may be pivoted to situate a medical device within the device mount (30) at a desired location adjacent the portion of the body within the clamp. The components of the positioner (10) are preferably made of materials that do not interfere with medical imaging instrumentation such as MRI scanners, though the positioner may include markers at desired locations such as on the positioning arm (26) adjacent the device mount (30) which are visible by the imaging instrumentation so that the location of the medical device may be asce rtained during imaging.
La présente invention concerne un positionneur (10) destiné à centrer ou encore à placer des dispositifs médicaux tels que des aiguilles de biopsie par rapport à un corps humain. Ledit positionneur comprend un clamp (12) destiné à recevoir une partie du corps humain (par exemple, un sein), un chariot (22) qui se déplace le long d'une voie de chariot (24) proche du clamp, et un bras de positionnement (26) monté pivotant sur le chariot et possédant un support (30) destiné à recevoir un dispositif médical. Le chariot (22) peut par conséquent porter le bras de positionnement (26) le long de la voie de chariot (24) vers un emplacement souhaité adjacent au clamp (12), au niveau duquel on peut faire pivoter le bras de positionnement pour placer un dispositif médical au niveau du dispositif de support (30) à un emplacement souhaité adjacent à la partie du corps située au niveau du clamp. Les composants du positionneur (10) sont de préférence constitués de matières qui n'interfèrent pas avec l'appareillage d'imagerie médicale tel que des scanners d'IRM, le positionneur pouvant comprendre des marqueurs, situés à des emplacements souhaités, tels que sur le bras de positionnement (26) adjacent au dispositif de support (30), qui sont visibles par l'appareillage d'imagerie, de sorte que l'emplacement du dispositif médical peut être identifié lors de l'imagerie.
