An apparatus and method used in den-tal transversal x-ray tomography provides off-line align-ment of the patient denture impression with the bite block of a panoramic x-ray equipment (12a), and allows ac-curate and reproductible patient positioning during the imaging process. An impression of the patient denture is taken on a special tray (14). The tray is mounted on the alignment apparatus (10) and is aligned by using opti-cal marking (21) in correspondence with the target zone. The alignment apparatus is then mounted on a panoramic x-ray equipment, and the patient is invited to bite on the tray during the imaging process.

L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé pour une tomographie dentaire transversale aux rayons X (12a). Cet appareil et ce procédé consistent à fournir un alignement en différé de l'empreinte de la prothèse dentaire d'un patient à l'aide de l'aile mordue d'un appareil de radiographie panoramique, et à permettre un positionnement précis et reproductible du patient pendant la formation d'images. Une empreinte de la prothèse dentaire du patient est prise sur un porte-empreinte spécial (14). Ce porte-empreinte est monté sur l'appareil correspondant à la zone cible. L'appareil d'alignement est ensuite monté sur un appareil de radiographie panoramique, puis le patient est invité à mordre dans ledit porte-empreinte pendant la formation d'images.
