ABSTRACT A positive displacement compressor having first and second cooperating rotors with parallel shafts. Gear wheels mounted on said shafts which are adapted to vary the angular speeds of said rotors during the compression cycle so that at least one of the rotors has its lowest angular speed during the discharge phase.
