A process comprising contacting PCR polyolefin chips containing volatile impurities with a heated gas at a superficial velocity sufficient to subtantially reduce the volatile impurities. This process is found to cause the chips (i) to be essentially free of odors and (ii) subject to resin composition and prior use, to meet FDA regulations for direct food contact.
