A cooling apparatus and method for the post mold cooling of injection molded articles where an exterior portion of the article is exposed to a cooling atmosphere separately from any other cooling of the article. More particularly, the external surface of a neck finish portion of a preform is cooled by means of a cooling fluid stream which is specifically directed at the external surface.

L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé de refroidissement après moulage d'un article moulé par injection, une partie extérieure de l'article étant exposée à une atmosphère de refroidissement indépendamment de tout autre refroidissement de l'article. Plus particulièrement, la surface extérieure d'une partie d'une bague d'une préforme est refroidie au moyen d'un flux de liquide de refroidissement spécialement dirigé sur la surface extérieure.
