The invention provides transgenic plants having within their genome DNA that includes an exogenous gene encoding a polypeptide and having in its 3' untranslated region a destabilizing sequence, whereby the polypeptide is expressed at a lower level in seed of the transgenic plants relative to expression in the absence of the destabilizing sequence. Also disclosed are methods for post-transcriptionally decreasing the message stability of a gene of interest in a plant that involve adding a destabilizing sequence to the 3' untranslated region of the gene of interest.

La présente invention a trait à des plantes transgéniques comportant dans leur génome un ADN comprenant un gène exogène codant pour un polypeptide et ayant dans sa région 3' non traduite une séquence déstabilisatrice, permettant l'expression du polypeptide à un taux inférieur dans des plantes transgéniques comparé à l'expression en l'absence de la séquence déstabilisatrice. L'invention a également trait à des procédés pour la réduction post-transcriptionnelle de la stabilité de message d'un gène d'intérêt chez une plante comprenant l'ajout d'une séquence déstabilisatrice à la région 3' non traduite du gène d'intérêt.
