A B S T R A C T There is provided an improved process for the preparation of potassium sulfate by the reaction of ammonium sulfate and potassium chloride wherein the improvement comprises reacting an ammonia enriched solution of ammonium sulfate with potassium chloride, the volume of the ammonia-enriched ammonium sulfate solution being such as to afford an economic recovery of ammonia for recycling purposes and a substantially quantitative precipitation of the potassium sulfate.
