Disclosed is a hydrocarbon blend made from 0.001 to 10 wt% of at least one poly-.alpha.- olefin, by weight of the blend, the at least one poly-a-olefin having a Kv100 within the range of from 10 to 3000 cSt and a molecular weight distribution within the range of from 1.0 to 4.5; and a base stock having a Kv100 below 20.0 cSt; wherein the at least one poly-.alpha.-olefin is present in an amount sufficient to lower the pour point of the blend by at least 5°C relative to the pour point of the base stock. The blend is formed by (a) reacting a catalyst composition and a feed containing at least two sets of .alpha.-olefins, wherein the first set of .alpha.-olefins is selected from C4 to C12 .alpha.-olefins and the second set of .alpha.-olefins is selected from C14 or larger .alpha.-olefins. The .alpha.- olefin feed may have a number average carbon number of at least 8 carbon atoms or greater.
Linvention concerne un mélange dhydrocarbures fabriqué à partir de 0,001 à 10 % en poids dau moins une poly-a-oléfine, par poids du mélange, la ou les poly-a-oléfines ayant un Kv100 dans la plage allant de 10 à 3 000 cSt et une distribution de poids moléculaire dans la plage allant de 1,0 à 4,5 ; et une huile de base ayant un Kv100 inférieur à 20,0 cSt. Selon linvention, la ou les poly-a-oléfines sont présentes en une quantité suffisante pour abaisser le point découlement du mélange dau moins 5 °C par rapport au point découlement de lhuile de base. Le mélange est formé en (a) faisant réagir une composition catalytique et une alimentation contenant au moins deux groupes da-oléfines, le premier groupe da-oléfines étant choisi parmi les a-oléfines en C4 à C12 et le second groupe da-oléfines étant choisi parmi les a-oléfines en C14 ou supérieures. Les a-oléfines introduites peuvent avoir un nombre de carbones moyen en nombre dau moins 8 atomes de carbone ou plus.
