ABSTRACT A pourable dishwashing detergent gel composition comprising an aqueous xanthan gum thickener, a detergency builder, an alkalinity builder or analkalinity builder mixture, a mixture of anionic and non-ionic surfactants, a chelating agent and water may form of a gel having a Brookfield viscosity from about 3,000 to about 6,000 cps and a yield point from about 250 to about 825 is disclosed. The dishwashing detergent can attain additional agents such as dye, perfume, preservatives, corrosion inhibitors, etc.
