A powder metal mixture comprises a lubricant powder conventionally used to produce powder metal parts in combination with fragmented cellulose fibers in an amount less than 2 % by weight of the mixture. The fragmented cellulose fibers have an average length of less than 150 micrometer and a diameter in the range of about 10 to 20 micrometer. The addition of fibers with the lubricant increases green strength of a part made by compacting the mixture and improves dimensional conformance.

L'invention concerne un mélange de poudre métallique comprenant une poudre lubrifiante, traditionnellement utilisée pour fabriquer des pièces en poudre métallique, en combinaison avec des fibres de cellulose fragmentées en quantité inférieure à 2 % en poids du mélange. Ces fibres de cellulose fragmentées présentent une longueur moyenne inférieure à 150 micromètres et un diamètre compris entre environ 10 et 20 micromètres. L'ajout de fibres dans le lubrifiant augmente la résistance à vert d'une pièce fabriquée par compactage du mélange et améliore la conformité dimensionnelle.
